Hayden Joseph & Dalton Robert...

This and That are now Dalton Robert and Hayden Joseph. They made their grand entrance into the world on March 4th, 2008 at exactly 35 weeks gestation. Dalton Robert was born at 6:51 PM March 4th, weighing 5 lbs 12 oz and 18 3/4" long. Hayden Joseph was born at 6:52 PM March 4th weighing 5 lbs 7 1/2 oz and 18 1/4" long.

On Tuesday at 1 PM, I went in for my routine 35 week check-in and ultrasound. During the ultrasound it was found that This' (Dalton's) amniotic fluid was lower than where the doctor wanted to see. I was then sent to Labor & Delivery where we were given the option to deliver March 4th or to stock me up on fluids in an attempt to build the amniotic fluid back up. We chose option B and were just about to start the process of pumping fluids, when I started to go into labor. Ultimately, my body made the decision for us to proceed with option A. From there everything was a blur, and happened so fast!

After delivery, the babies were taken to the NICU. They were breathing fully on their own but their premature lungs were having to work overtime so they were both given additional help so that they didn't have to work so hard. Hayden's developed a tear in his right lung and had to have a ventilator and a chest tube. Dalton stayed on C-Pap for just over 24 hours and then was moved to oxygen. In the end Dalton spent 17 days in the NICU and Hayden spent 13, but they both made it home in time for Easter just like we hoped.
